Programmbescheibung:

"Typisch Österreich" von Katharina Moser (Theater/Lesung)

In Kooperation mit der Stuthe Wien (www.stuthe.com) wird eine szenische Lesung des Buches "Typisch Österreich" von Katharina Moser gezeigt, das 2009 im Ueberreuter Verlag erscheint. Die humorvollen Betrachtungen schildern die Erfahrungen junger Europäer in Österreich in einer anregend unterhaltsamen Form. Die Premiere der von dem "Anna und Du" Star Helge Salnikau Inszenierung am 11. April im Ragnarhof sorgte für ein volles Haus, viel Gelächter und den einen oder anderen Anstoß zur Selbstreflexion im eigenen Österreicher/in - Sein. Die auch vielfachen Wunsch angesetzte Wiederaufnahme sollte man sich daher nicht entgehen lassen!

In Insiderkreisen ist die 1993 von Edith Lettner (Saxophon) und Stephan Brodsky (Drums & Marimbaphone) gegründete Formation seit Jahren schon für ihre eigenwillige Musik bekannt: in den vielschichtigen Eigenkompositionen verschmelzen Einflüsse aus Afrika, Asien und der Karibik zu Worldmusic im besten Sinne des Wortes. Ihr Jazz-Dialog bewegt sich weit abseits des Mainstreams: souverän, groovig, manchmal auch minimalistisch.

In the chapter of the contemporary Slovene popular music, Katalena needs to be addressed as no more and no less than a phenomenon.
The story of this urban band begins in an idyllic village in the Southeast of Slovenia, where, in the summer of 2001, a group of six enthusiasts unearthed archival folklore material and rejuvenated its rustic image in line with their art rock, funk, jazz and blues pedigree and with their own integral youthful vision that was as much philosophical as it was musical.
The feedback from those privileged enough to encounter with the six-some music in its prime, soon outgrew the original idea of a one off experiment and in the months and years to follow, sons and daughters of Katalena took the stages of the most prominent festivals, concert halls and clubs home and abroad by a storm.
In five years time the band gave birth to three brainchildren - (Z)godbe/Stories (2002), Babje leto/Indian summer (2004) and Kme?ka ohcet/Country wedding (2006). Albums received great attention among music writers that are up to this day still unable to categorize them, turned the existing folkloristic theories upside down and converted a great number of doubting Thomases into folk music fans.
Combining best of the Slovene traditional music, carefully selected from the archives, songbooks and old vinyl records with solid rock rhythms, funky groove and enviable arranging skills it creates a unique post-folk rock style that presents the music legacy of Slovenia's regions in an utterly new light. Fused with dynamic and invigorating electrical instruments, which caress the enchanting singing, it is transformed on the stage into a dance and sound performance that mesmerises even the most musically pampered ears.
Katalena is the most inspirational voice of the 21st century Slovene folk music soundtrack.

Back in 2003 experienced songwriter GuŠti decided to pursue his solo career. On his first solo album Dolce Vita, Gusti and his team of musicians searched for their joint expression and sound in versatile pop music styles. Project soon evolved in a pop band, which became very popular and comfortable on diverse stages across Slovenia. On Gušti's second album titled simply GP, their energy is expressed in songs which are trying to escape everyday urban structures, but as if their dreamy female vocal would always find it's way and bring them back at the begining of the street.
Gušti and Polona is a structure of diverse musicians, living their joint quest for edgy pop expression.

Their line up (and also the music they play) changed many times. Now they are one of the most important alternative bands in Slovenia, playing a powerful alternative/art rock rusion with Balkan influences. They won some important awards and played a lot of shows in ex-Yugoslavia territory. For their 10th anniversary they have published a record called 10. letnik, a video for the song Bob`Street and also a 35 minute long footage about their first ten years (documentary.
Year 2006 was a period of "visual festivals" in all it´s meanings. Jure Engelsberger and Rajko Bajt get a price for the 10th anniversary CD cover on the Bienale. On the Independent film festival Jaka Babnik gets an award for camera and sound for film Listen to Screcna Mladina. It also gets an award for a role-playing movie at Festival 600, a short film called "V Avtu" from Videoklub producers, that contain songs "Organiphobia dn Bob`Street". Srecna mladina were also guests on the Trieste film festival and at animated movie festival Animateka.
In 2007 they have joined Association KAPA and KAPA recors which will help them on their music way further on. Currently they are prepairing new album, which will be published in 2008.

Siddharta is the name of a rock band from Slovenia, who got the name from Hermann Hesse's book, a group of six guys who have devoted the last 12 years of their young lives to making music surpassing all their homeland has heard before.
From the beginning they played other bands' music in small clubs, working on their own as time went by. Their first album ID (cf. Freud) was released in 1999.
It was a huge success, only surpassed by their next album Nord two years later. It went straight to number one of the album-selling charts, breaking all known sales records. An incredibly successful tour followed and lasted until summer 2002. (A remix album was released during that time as well, where Siddharta's songs were remixed/remade by the more or less big names in the business, including Laibach, DJ Umek and others.)
After that the band retreated from public life, taking a short vacation and started working on their third album Rh-, which was released in the summer of 2003. A special-edition English version of the album, packed in a bloodbag, was released and sold out immediately.
The tour-opening concert took place in an overcrowded football stadium in Ljubljana, the capital city of Siddharta's homeland, Slovenia in September 2003. People from all parts of the country plus foreigners gathered to see Siddharta who accompanied by the RTV Slovenia's Symphony Orchestra and 60 dancers performed in front of a crowd of over 30,000 people and a few thousands who could not get in as the concert had been sold out way in advance.
In March 2005 Siddharta released an international version of their best-selling album Rh- in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Croatia and Slovenia. With Europe opening up, the journey for Siddharta has only just begun and by receiving MTVs EMA 2005 (Europe Music Award) the band is apt to win wider recognition on the music scene of Europe.
After writing and recording for almost 6 months, on June 4th 2006 Siddharta released Petrolea in Slovenia. Their 4th studio album entered the charts at position 1, stayed there for weeks and got the platinum status in march 2007.
At the end of 2006 they went on a tour through whole Slovenia for around 20 concert to promote their new album and also to please fans with some older stuff. Around 50.000 visitors saw Siddharta in their best way of presentation. The tour ended in front of 15.000 people at an open air show in the capital of Slovenia (Ljubljana). It was also recorded by national TV and Radio and aired in January.
A successful 2007 ends with 2 new albums. The first one is a DVD/CD combination of the acoustic radio show on Val 202 called Izštekani. The release is available with 6 different covers; each with one band member. The second album is a live record of their Maraton concert event held in Hala Tivoli in Ljubljana were they played their whole discography in more than 5 hours. XL Terrestrials, an NGMO ( a Non-Governmentally Modified Organism) based primarily in San Francisco and Berlin, performing unlicensed psychomedia analysis and psychomagic praxis since 2005. The Soho show is the 2nd installment of their Transmigration series called "The Tranmigration Of The Telepresent", an unlicensed "psychomedia" analysis and interactive cinematic vivisection of the Military Entertainment Complex and our increasingly disembodied user-culture.

About Beta_test: Christian Reiner's stimmgewaltige Performance und die ungewöhnlichen elektronischen Klänge von Philip Leitner's Sampler verbinden sich mit dem Bildmaterial zu einem Konzert mit starker performativer Seite. Da beta_test sowohl Improstück als auch Softwaretest ist, wird dieses Konzert für Publikum und Musiker einiges an überaschenden Momenten bergen.

Couscous (Konzert mit Visuals)
Das rhythmische Gerüst von Couscous resultiert aus Dosen, Stahlfedern, Bleche und Plastikflaschen und andere Alltagsgegenstände die sich zum Schaben, Dehnen, Abklopfen, und Schlagen anbieten. Jugendliche im Migrationsspannungsfeld bannen ihren Alltag, ihre Identität auf Film, welcher die Grundlage der Abschlussperformance mit Gastmusikern bildet.

Im Rahmen der Lassos Mariachis-Gala 2008 werden musikalische Weggefährten auf die Bühne gebeten: Der Schwimmer, Dominik Nostitz und DJ Manfredinho - und es kommt zum sensationellen Comeback von Roy Blast!
VJ Ernst Tradinik, der beim Video zu "Je t'aime" (2006) Regie geführt und die Visuals für "Lassos Mariachis - Die Show" gestaltet hat, wird für die Visuals an diesem Abend sorgen.

Interaktive Installation und Performance im öffentlichen Raum.

Diese Gebetsmühle entspringt dem Buddhismus und wird zum Straßenkunst-Objekt readaptiert mit Aussagen und ‚säkularisierten Mantras' - den Wünschen von MigrantInnen für ein neues Leben, ein neues Heim, für Respekt. Es entsteht eine dazugehörige Weltkarte mit den Migrationsrouten.

Als Servicestelle für FestivalbesucherInnen und EinwohnerInnen des Brunnenviertels mit Migrationshintergrund werden hier persönlich wichtige Gegenstände und Geschichten über Interviews und Fotografie erfasst und archiviert und nomadische Lebenswege aufgezeichnet. Dafür wird ein online-Raum(website) geschaffen, als virtueller Safe der wichtigsten nomadischen Güter in digitalisierten 3D Abbildungen.

Diese Arbeit basiert auf meinem Leben als Migrant zwischen Caracas, Budapest, und Berlin - geprägt von den Höhen und Tiefen eines Vagabunden. In der Suche nach der Identität in einem nomadischen Lebensstil und die damit verbundenen Ankünfte und Abschiede. "Abschiednehmen ist immer ein Stückchen Tod" Französisches Sprichwort
Transborder besteht aus Videoprojektionen - der Suche nach Identität und der damit verbundenen Hinterfragung nationaler Identität, bürokratischer Identität, politischer Identität, usw. Die Projektionen vermitteln ein Gefühl unendlicher Mobilität. Auch wenn wir physisch immobilisiert sind, können wir uns mental bewegen.

Nòvy Zivot v Ottakringu | "Nový Život" in Ottakring
"Nový Život" bedeutet auf slowakisch "neues Leben". "Nový Život" ist aber auch der Name eines Dorfes rund 20km östlich von Bratislava. Nicht nur dort hat sich in den Jahren seit der samtenen Revolution von 1989 viel verändert. SlowakInnen führen heute ein "neues Leben". Darin spielt für viele von ihnen auch Wien eine bedeutende Rolle. Dies manifestierte sich jedoch bis heute allerdings kaum in sichtbaren Spuren im Wiener Stadtraum. Und überhaupt - was weiß man hier schon über das "neue Leben" der Menschen im Land zwischen hoher Tatra und Donau?
Deshalb möchten wir SlowakInnen einladen, sich ein Stück Wien anzueignen. Wir wollen, dass sie uns damit Geschichten aus ihrem "neuen Leben" erzählen. Ganz auf ihre eigene Art, mit Ottakring als Projektionsfläche. Im Zentrum steht dabei unser "Nový Život Panelák", also ein Plattenbau mitten im Ragnarhof, den wir während des Festivals gemeinsam mit unseren slowakischen Freunden errichten und bespielen werden. Solange unser "Nový Život Panelák" steht, soll Ottakring eine "Slowakisierung" erfahren, deren Spuren noch lange sicht- un spürbar sein werden. Sprachliche, geschmackliche und emotionale Verwirrungen inklusive. Vitajte v novom ivote!
