Ein Fest für Fußbälle, Kinder und Tansania

Freunde des runden Leders, Afrikas und der gepflegten Vinyl-Behandlung vereinigt euch!
Am Montag, den 25.10. 2010 ab 20:00 findet im Wiener Ragnarhof ein Fest für gleich drei Wiener Communities statt: Fußballfreunde, Afrika-Interessierte und Freunde von Beats und Breaks sind eingeladen zur "The Great Football Giveaway" Fundraising Party. Mit einer Doku über das aus England stammende Fußball-Projekt in Afrika, einer Fotoausstellung von Canchas über "spontane Fußballfelder" rund um den Globus und dem DJ Kollektiv Frisch Saftig Stylish werden Auge, Schuss- und Tanzbein angesprochen.

Thomas Wagner, Student aus Wien, steht hinter der Veranstaltung und engagiert sich dieses Jahr beim Great Football Giveaway in Südost-Tansania: "Wir glauben einfach, dass keinem Kind auf dieser Welt die Freude verwehrt bleiben sollte, (Fuß)Ball zu spielen. Es ist eines der einfachsten und spontansten Vergnügen die man haben kann. Auch ganz ohne Stadion, Fans und Millionenverträge."

"The Great Football Giveaway", das ist eine kleine NGO aus England, die es sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat so viele Fußbälle wie möglich in die Hände oder besser an die Füße von Kindern in armen, vom Tourismus unberührte und zum Teil von Krieg verwüstete Landstriche Afrikas zu bringen. Gemeinsam mit NGOs vor Ort hat das Projekt bisher 15,000 Bälle direkt an Kinder in Malawi, Angola, Uganda, Zambia, Ruanda und den Kongo gebracht. Die Teams sind dabei immer selbst organisiert. Thomas hat sich über Blogs und Twitter mit acht anderen aus New York und London zusammengefunden, die nun ein Team bilden das von 4. bis 14. November nach Tansania reisen.

Jeder Fußball mit Pumpe der an die Kinder in Tansania verteilt wird kostet £10, also 12€. Das nicht ganz bescheidene Ziel der Gruppe - die Flug, Unterkunft und andere Kosten natürlich selbst trägt - ist 1350 Bälle in der Region zu verteilen, also £13.500 zu sammeln. Knapp £5,168.84 sind schon geschafft, The Great Football Giveaway Party soll dazu beitragen die 13.500 zu erreichen. Gleichzeitig gibt das Fest aber auch lokalen Projekten und Organisationen eine Plattform, die im Spannungsfeld von Fußball und Afrika tätig sind, wie zum Beispiel dem Projekt Canchas, das "spontane Fussballfelder und ihre menschliche Seite" dokumentiert und bereits im Rahmen von Kenako zu bestaunen war.
